It was going to be but I've decided on the hammerite hammered finish. It's hard wearing & give a metal look to it.

Right I finally got back to doing something with this today. The body is almost complete, there were a few things I wasn't happy with regarding strength but they are almost sorted. It won't be a masterpiece but it should hold up well. It's all ready to fire with the mechanisms in place & tested till they work, the cam may need some adjustment but nothing major.

I will have some pictures up soon when I have the outer housing & lid finished & on it. I have a few cosmetic things to put on it aswell which might be a bit fiddly. Still unsure on how to mount it, I am considering building a completely separate mount but any suggestions would be welcomed.

Ok so I spent 10 hours in the shed til 1am, didn't notice.

I got alot done, the mechanism housing is now made & on, changed the lid so the front cover is a part of it making it sturdier & more resistant to getting hit & a bit more weatherproof. I also made a mockup for a tri-pod, the one in the pictures is for a camera & can't support the weight but I was just testing an idea.

Thing weighs atleast 10kg now without the tripod. Hate to think of the weight when it's all fitted up with paint & air.

Glorious pictures now.

aw that looks pretty cool, are you not going to put one of those shields on it like the ww2 anti tank guns? and i thought maybe you could use something as simple as half of an axle, maybe just with the bearings in it, would that not work?

By magic!

Nah, usual old way but with a really long feed neck. The end feed will probably be 2 speed feeds of some sort in a higher capacity box.
